Lighting the way through bursaries

We warmly invite you to support Riverview’s Bursary Program and help extend the life-shaping gift of a Jesuit education to students who would not otherwise have access to it. Every gift makes a lasting difference.

At Riverview, the Bursary Program exists entirely because of the generosity of our community. Since 2004, more than 500 young men have received a Jesuit education through donor support. Each bursary represents far more than financial assistance. It provides stability, opportunity, and a profound sense of belonging at a formative time in a young person’s life.

Bursaries are awarded based on financial need and support students from metropolitan Sydney, rural and regional Australia, First Nations communities, and refugee backgrounds. These students enrich the life of the College through their character, perspective, and contribution, strengthening Riverview’s mission to form young men who live for and with others.

This year’s Bursary Appeal video shares the journey of Alex Fry (OR2015). For Alex, a boarder from Yass, the opportunity to attend Riverview was transformative. Arriving from a small country community, Alex quickly discovered a place where he was challenged, supported, and encouraged to grow. His teachers and coaches instilled in him the confidence to pursue opportunities he had never previously imagined. “Riverview helped me believe I could achieve things I didn’t think were possible,” he reflects.

After a gap year at Belvedere College in Dublin, Alex completed a Bachelor of Commerce and returned to Riverview to coach rugby, giving back to the community that had shaped him. Today, in both his professional and personal life, he carries with him the values, confidence, and sense of purpose he developed during his years at the College. Inspired by the generosity of those who contributed to his journey, Alex is now a donor to the Bursary Program, helping ensure future students can access the same opportunities.

Each bursary is an investment not only in a student, but in a future leader, mentor, and contributor to society. With your support, Riverview can continue to provide access to a Jesuit education for students of promise, regardless of their financial circumstances.
